How To Profit From "In Running" Sport Events

One really exciting scenario is called “in running”. Basically that means that you can take advantage of odds that change in the middle of a game.

Think about it: In many cases you place a bet on a game and then sit down to watch the game. Let’s say you placed a bet on Team A. You watch as slowly, during the match, Team A gets slaughtered on the field through the first quarter of the game. You are so worried that you lost your bet. But then during the second quarter they rally and your hope is restored. Unfortunately, during the third quarter they get hammered again and you are sure that your money is lost. What will happen in the 4th quarter?

That’s a lot of emotion during a game and you have no control over your bet at all. Wouldn’t it be nice if you did?

Well now you can, with something called “in running”. Thanks to a variety of technologies including satellite television and high speed internet, we can literally watch something that is happening as it unfolds around the world. Betting exchanges have picked up on this and are offering “in running” which is odds on a game that change as the event happens! That’s right, when your Team is doing poorly, the odds are getting worse.

When your team does well, the odds of winning get better. This is an exciting way to watch sports because it allows you to make changes. Perhaps you want to hedge your bets on the other team during the first and third quarters. Perhaps during the second quarter you want to increase your bet because Team A did so well. Going into the final quarter you might have a completely different idea of the outcome of the game than you did when the game first started… and now you have “in running” odds to match.

In betting exchanges, in running games are announced. You should be sure to watch the game on television while it is happening (that is, live!!!) and at the same time remain logged into the computer and watch the in running odds. This will let you make hedging decisions as the game is played.

A word of caution here: at this point it can become very easy to get emotionally involved in a game. Unlike (for example) a horserace where you bet and then the wicket is closed and you’re stuck watching the game wishing your horse would go faster… now you can make changes in the middle of the race!!! (Well, maybe not for horse races but other sports apply).
